When I saw the stack sitting there, I decided it was time to share them. Next on my agenda...to put them all away!!!<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I like the look of some of the single page layouts I have seen lately...but I work in double page layouts, so I tried to kind of combine the two styles here.</td></tr>

Thanks for joining us. This month's blog hop challenge was to showcase a stamping technique. My technique is an older technique, I wanted to share it because I had forgotten all about it, but I like the look. I'm hoping some of you like it too! It can be recreated with any color embossing powders and paper, I used black and white in my example. <br />
<br />
I, once again, used Unity stamps for this technique. <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/ShareCroppersKits?section_id=8124648&ga_search_query=Dots%2Bfor%2BSure&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5961824" target="new">Sherri</a> is sponsoring this month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog. <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TQrrnjBn3os/TmhmRqocRNI/AAAAAAAAA0E/JJdtwJsLpGk/s1600/IMG_8512.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="316" nba="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TQrrnjBn3os/TmhmRqocRNI/AAAAAAAAA0E/JJdtwJsLpGk/s640/IMG_8512.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I used an Allison Davis Sketch from one of her Sketches for Scrapbooking books for this layout. </td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8p-6IzqWmYQ/TmhmdH7WwbI/AAAAAAAAA0I/_OmxrTCTy8k/s1600/IMG_8516.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="315" nba="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8p-6IzqWmYQ/TmhmdH7WwbI/AAAAAAAAA0I/_OmxrTCTy8k/s640/IMG_8516.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I used some pieces that I made for a swap last year on this layout. That is crepe paper (like party streamers) gathered under the photo mats. Since I had all the "bits and pieces" this layout came together SUPER QUICK!</td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j5r_LcTxY90/Tmhmu7j2ZYI/AAAAAAAAA0M/eFOPA1dy5DU/s1600/IMG_8517.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" nba="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j5r_LcTxY90/Tmhmu7j2ZYI/AAAAAAAAA0M/eFOPA1dy5DU/s640/IMG_8517.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I bought a stack at Michael's this spring just for these two pieces of paper. (I liked lots of the other paper too, but these were my FAVORITES.) I LOVE yellow, but don't get to scrap too much with it. I was super excited to get to create this page.</td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My favorite part of creating this layout was adding the embellishment cluster on the left hand side.</td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This page has been "in progress" for probably 2 months...I just really needed to finish it up and put it away. It's not one of my favorite layouts, but that's ok. I think I just had it out looking at it for too long. Definitely one of those "forced layouts"!</td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jm6ljavjhRQ/TmhnWOZ9UFI/AAAAAAAAA0Y/3YMTJxhIHsk/s1600/IMG_8520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="316" nba="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jm6ljavjhRQ/TmhnWOZ9UFI/AAAAAAAAA0Y/3YMTJxhIHsk/s640/IMG_8520.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I liked the bright colors in these fun photos. I don't scrap too much in bright primary colors, so it was a nice change of pace. I used <a href="http://prettypaperbook.com/blog/2011/07/15/we-r-memory-keepers-travel-light/" target="new">this layout as inspiration </a>for the tags down the right side of this layout.</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I just love this "old' paper. I'm glad I finally USED it...I bought it when I went through the "I can't use this because the layout won't be good enough" phase. I'm glad I got over that phase. Now I use up "good" and "new" embellishments and papers without a second thought. I would rather have them on a layout than stashed away "waiting" in my scrapbook room! <a href="http://lilybeedesign.blogspot.com/2011/08/new-lily-bee.html" target="new">This is the inspiration layout I used.</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This layout was created around the alphabet stamp across the bottom. A friend of mine got it at a yard sale this summer. <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I thought this bicycle paper was super cute! Glad I found some photos to go with it! I have also really been wanting to use a cloud embellishment, like the ones I have been seeing everywhere this summer. So I was happy to cut it from the reverse side of one of the patterned papers!</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is the first layout I created with my <a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="new">Counterfeit Kit</a> from September 2011. Sadly I took these photos about 5 days before the LSS (pictured) announced they were going to be closing down. That was about 3 weeks ago, and they are already gone. I have been shopping there since the first year they opened, 11 years ago. The saddest part was that I just started bringing my daughter there for a weekly afternoon crop, for some quality mommy/daughter time.</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">And this is the second layout I created with my September 2011 Counterfeit Kit. I really liked the color combination this month, I found that I have lots of photos to match.</td></tr>

they were definitely an inspiration on this layout!</td></tr>

Not to worry, these single page layouts are for the beginning and ending pages of two of my scrapbooks. LOL This month I created the Main Kit and the Limited Edition Kit as my Counterfeit Kits.<br />

This is the last stop on the hop today, I hope you picked up some inspiration and ideas about how to use up your flower stash (if you are anything like me, it is rather large). This month's challenge was to use flowers in a creative way. I decided to use flowers and felt pieces that were in my "Liberty Crossing" Add-On Kit. I used lots of red, white, and blue flowers in various sizes, a few felt stars, and some brads to create these "firework" embellishments. When I use them on a layout, I intend on creating the little "light trails" with the silver pipe cleaners that I also included in my Counterfeit Kit. Thank you so much for playing!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wdn6KfCwbGw/Ti5L-xgzaaI/AAAAAAAAAtE/Smngkq5Bkyo/s1600/IMG_6427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wdn6KfCwbGw/Ti5L-xgzaaI/AAAAAAAAAtE/Smngkq5Bkyo/s400/IMG_6427.JPG" t$="true" width="400" /></a></div><br />

I also wanted to share the 2 layouts I made with my "Liberty Crossing" Add-On Kit.<br />

Both from my July Counterfeit Kit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PhQvaxl9wlE/Th9GZGgbyDI/AAAAAAAAAmc/rcbLkYpxsBM/s1600/IMG_5501.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" m$="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PhQvaxl9wlE/Th9GZGgbyDI/AAAAAAAAAmc/rcbLkYpxsBM/s400/IMG_5501.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>My favorite part of this layout was part of the title...the layout is about the beaded necklace that my daughter made, so I used some of the "alphabet" beads to spell "homemade" in my title!<br />

Thanks for joining us. Today's layout is supposed to be about "I"...or me. I must warn you, this layout is a REAL STRETCH! I was on QUITE a roll with my kit this month, and used all of it up without ever even taking a photo of the kit in the first place! Sadly, I used it up without realizing that I never did the blog hop mini challenge with it either! (I got so much scrapping done this month, that I even went back to finish up kits from earlier this year!!!) I did create 9 double page layouts with my June Counterfeit Kit, so I had to go back and choose one that was about me...now I don't scrap much about myself (which is why Bethany chose this challenge...duh, Meridy) so finding a layout about me, that I made using my kit this month, was a REAL stretch...but here goes!<br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: large;">"I MADE" these potato sacks...</span></strong><br />
<br />
This layout is about the potato sacks that I made last year for potato sack races at my son's first birthday party (no he didn't race, the older kids did). I sewed 6 of them out of burlap and stamped the words "Sack of Potatoes" on them. I was so proud of my potato sacks, that I took them to Texas for our family reunion last May so the kids could race there too. The family reunion races are in this layout. The journaling is about how I made the potato sacks...so I'm in there a little bit!<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vdsfOw7QrG0/TggboLtbPhI/AAAAAAAAAdk/2nrOuQvjevY/s1600/IMG_4279_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="195" i$="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vdsfOw7QrG0/TggboLtbPhI/AAAAAAAAAdk/2nrOuQvjevY/s400/IMG_4279_edited-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Potato sacks that "I" made...</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
Well, I warned you that it was a stretch! Lesson learned...next month I need to do the blog hop challenge BEFORE I finish off my Counterfeit Kit!<br />
<br />
Thanks for joining us this month. I can't wait to see tomorrow's blog hop participants and their work!!!!Meridyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18413913503260326684noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-785458367104601430.post-79961432829126863402011-05-27T00:01:00.000-07:002011-05-27T00:01:03.744-07:00Counterfeit Kit Challenge Design Team May Blog HopIf you are following the <a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="new">Counterfeit Kit Challenge</a> blog hop you should arrived here from <a href="http://nomorelittlemonkeys.blogspot.com/" target="new">Gabrielle's</a> blog. Yikes, I guess I've been a little busy working on the <a href="http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="new">Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog</a>. <br />
<br />
If you are following the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog hop you should arrived here from <a href="http://nomorelittlemonkeys.blogspot.com/" target="new">Gabrielle's</a> blog. The Mini Challenge for the hop is to "counterfeit" one of the Master Forgers (aka Design Team Memebers). I decided to take a cue from <a href="http://lovejoyscrap.blogspot.com/2011/04/little-tip.html" target="new">Kim's</a> layout...and create a "school themed" layout. Not only did I counterfeit her theme, but I also "lifted" her design. Here is Kim's original layout titled "First Day of Third Grade"...<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-axUvkAmrkpo/TbcuAC6XhiI/AAAAAAAAAX4/qJbOpQ9DgR8/s1600/DSC_4704.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="193" i8="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-axUvkAmrkpo/TbcuAC6XhiI/AAAAAAAAAX4/qJbOpQ9DgR8/s200/DSC_4704.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Kim's layout was my inspiration</td></tr>
</tbody></table>And here is my layout using my April 2011 Counterfeit Kit...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-POvutJdbTGg/TbeP_0suYSI/AAAAAAAAAX8/ICoXuMwK2eQ/s1600/IMG_0946.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="319" i8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-POvutJdbTGg/TbeP_0suYSI/AAAAAAAAAX8/ICoXuMwK2eQ/s320/IMG_0946.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
Thanks for joining us on our Master Forger blog hop! I hope you really got inspired.<br />

I was going through my 100's of pictures...and decided to share some "photography notes and tips" with you. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bQbwGHcsFdA/TWIdi9l0v0I/AAAAAAAAAWk/NVbAobll3VE/s1600/IMG_4813.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" j6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bQbwGHcsFdA/TWIdi9l0v0I/AAAAAAAAAWk/NVbAobll3VE/s320/IMG_4813.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I'm mainly going to focus on the composition of your shots and the interactions between your subject and their surroundings. I found these to be what separated my "good" photos from my "great" photos. These examples and notes can probably be applied to all types of photography, not just Disneyland, but I think it will be fun to use the Disney pictures as my examples. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">(I am <em>not</em> going to discuss technical information, such as camera settings, because I do not feel comfortable enough to give advise about what settings to use, as I am still learning myself.) I will say that I shot <em>most</em> of these pictures on the sports setting of my camera, because I didn't have time to change settings as I was walking around the park.<br />
<br />
Note: All of the following photo examples are Straight Out Of Camera (with the exception of a small amount of cropping on some of them). They have not been altered or edited in any other way...so you can see that you can get great photos without all types of fancy editing!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Tip #1:</span> <strong>Try getting below your subject and hold your camera at a slight angle, to get a different, more interesting composition.</strong> I tilted my camera slightly in order to get the entire building in the second shot.</div> <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"></td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-size: x-large;">Tip #2:</span> <strong> Know when to take a picture at an angle...and know when to hold the camera straight. </strong> Although the tilted "angle" shots look interesting, you don't want all of your photographs to look the same. Some shots will look better at an angle, and some will look better straight on. For example, the Mad Tea Party tea cup ride looks alot more interesting when I tilted the camera. The angled shot mimics the motion and dizziness of the ride. <br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">In contrast, the facade of It's a Small World ride shot straight-on, allows for all of the details of the ride to be in the photograph. Since it is a "leisure" boat ride...the picture does not need to depict "fast" motion, but it should rather show off all of the little details about the ride.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I realized that this must be a pretty common snapshot problem, which is why I decided to discuss it in this tutorial. Pay attention not to cut off body parts of your subjects in your photos...it looks very awkward. The exception to this is if you are trying to get a close-up "portrait"-type photo, in which case you will zoom in close to your subject's head.<br />

</tbody></table><br />
I <em><strong>really</strong></em> thought about making a card for the challenge...but I cheated. I know that the point of the Counterfeit Kit Challenge is to put together some of the supplies we have on hand and actually USE the kit's contents. I do not usually make cards, and I have 100's of pictures that are in need of a home, so I veered from making a card, to creating a double page layout. I know, it's completely "illegal" LOL...but I need to spend my valuable scrappy time making layouts. I have a feeling you will understand :)<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Well, while I was brainstorming, looking through the few remaining contents of my Counterfeit Kit, and browsing the Internet...I asked myself, "Who has a great sense of fashion?" The first person who came to my mind...Jackie Onassis Kennedy...then Michelle Obama. So I Googled Images of "Michelle Obama fashions". As soon as I saw her and The President's pictures from his inauguration, I <strong>KNEW</strong> this was going to be my inspiration...</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">I only had a few sheets of paper left in my kit, which included a piece of white, floral, lace/doily paper and a piece of lime green paper with white polka dots. As soon as I saw the First Lady's dress in this picture...my creativity took over!!! It was PERFECT for this challenge! And you know what made it even better? President Obama's tie is red! I still had my red flowers and red lace in my Counterfeit Kit, I decided they would make the perfect embellishments! This is a combination of supplies that I would have NEVER chosen on my own. As for the background cardstock, I took a cue from President Obama's suit and went for black. I choose the pictures to use on my layout because I remembered that we were all wearing different shades of green in our family portraits from Christmas 2009...and I had been waiting for<em> just the right papers</em> to scrapbook them. Everything was falling into place. With the pictures, supplies, and embellishments in front of me, I decided to refer to a sketch from the class <a href="http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/classes_and_events/classes/21-stretch-your-sketch-with-jen-gallacher/lesson/1689757-stretch-your-sketch-january-2011/">Stretch Your Sketch</a> for the layout inspiration. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<br />
Counterfeit Kit Challenge is a challenge blog that my friend, Bethany, and I set up. We are very excited (and nervous) about our very first challenge to be posted. It has been so much fun choosing the kit, making my counterfeit kit, and planning the tutorials and challenges for the month of January. I really hope we are able to inspire a lot of scrapbookers through our blog. If you haven't done so, check it out at <a href="http://www.counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/">http://www.counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/</a> . I think you'll be happy you did!Meridyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18413913503260326684noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-785458367104601430.post-7059491859471556652010-12-30T23:55:00.000-08:002010-12-31T00:05:25.914-08:00A Few Journaling Blocks to Download and PrintSince Project Life is so popular now (especially with the start of the New Year)...I have created some 3"x4" size journal blocks. I was just kind of messing around, experimenting with some simple designs and decided I would share them. One more thing...cut the journal blocks out just inside the solid black lines and use a corner rounder on the corners...they should look good like that (the solid line is a guide for cutting, the dotted line is part of the design).<br />
<br />
I believe there are 5 different designs in each .PDF file, and each design has one page of lined and one page of blank journal blocks, for a total of 10 pages of journal blocks.<br />
<br />
For best results, this color .PDF file can be downloaded and printed on white, cream, or Kraft colored cardstock.<br />

</div>I have also included a "black and white" version...which looks GREAT printed on Kraft. <br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">I also remembered I designed some simple calendar "spots" a while back. In my opinion, they look the best printed on Kraft cardstock. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
